Ringbaan-West Tilburg

Location: Ringbaan-West Tilburg Netherlands
Company: Fina
Architect: Van Ravesteyn
Erected: 1959

For Fina architect Van Ravesteyn designed a series of attractive stations. There is almost nothing left of it today
This station on one of the former exit roads of Tilburg contained a higher grease area and a lower kiosk in front of it. The grease area received its daylight via windows over the lower kiosk roof. The program of wishes looks like that of the Groesbeek (below) station, but the architecture is more "modern".
The folded roof gives the building a real roadside orientation. Opposite the road there was a small dependance.

In the eighties the building was demolished. Today the location houses a modern standard station.

Zevenheuvelenweg Groesbeek

Location: Zevenheuvelenweg Groesbeek Netherlands
Company: Fina
Architect: Van Ravesteyn

The architect was asked for a corner filling point with lower kiosk and more elevated grease area. This program looks the same as in Tilburg (above) but it's totally different shaped. The cube-like structure was placed on a prononcated basement. The roof corners beared classically shaped lanterns. By lowering the car grease entrance the designer equalised more the levels of the two roofs .
The careful designed details have mostly disappeared in the last years renovations. The grease area now belongs to the shop and there are plans to rebuild a standard station at the place.

Schelmseweg Arnhem

Location: Schelmseweg Arnhem Netherlands
Company: Fina
Architect: Chr. van Heelsbergen
Erected: 1961

Another filling station with a grease area and a small kiosk. It is situated in de forests opposite the Burgers Zoo entrance. The design consists originally of a slim transparent canopy under which the building blocks were situated. The canopy is bended in both elevation and in ground plan. By this the forecourt and kiosk areas are in a slightly rotated position to each other.
The canopy is beared by the grease room wall at the back and an oversized front pillar. Bearing the company logo it contrasts with the slim canopy.
Most of the original details have been disappeared by modern renovations. The place also looks disorderly because of unprofessional extentions and prefab kiosk. There are more renovations to come.

Glanerbrug, Gronausestraat

Location: Glanerbrug, Gronausestraat Netherlands
Company: Fina
Architect: Van Ravesteyn
Erected: start of the sixties

The building is flat shaped and contains beside the filling station area also a managers house and service rooms. The imposant facade was placed at the front to give more "body" to the building. From the forecourt you only see this imposant front, combined with another free standing wall, bearing the company logo.
It seems to be a renovation by the architect of an older existing building.

Sassenheim, Motorway A44

Location: Sassenheim, Motorway A44 Netherlands
Company: Fina
Architect: Van Ravesteyn
Erected: 1959

The filling station is part of a series of motorway stations of which no one is left today. This example was exchanged with a modern semipermanent selling point some years ago. Before it was already strongly affected, especially the slim canopy.
Lying between entrance and exit roads of the motorway connection, the station consisted of a halfround kiosk, as high as te connected canopy in front of it. The kiosk showed a nice composition between the glass front and the monumentally shaped closed backside.

Eelde airport

Location: Burg. Legroweg, Eelde Netherlands
Company: Fina
Architect: Bulder
Erected: end of the fifties

The selling point lies beside the airport Eelde, at the public roadside. The building program asked also for a manager's house and a grease room. The house windows give a view to the airport area at the back. The closed backside separates the house from the forecourt area.
There's a glass kiosk connected to the main mass of the building.

Nootdorp, Kerkweg

Location: Kerkweg, Nootdorp
Company: Shell
Architect: ?
Erected: end fifties

Here you find the station opposite the former horse racetrack. The kiosk is connected to the main volume, containing the still exploitated car service area. Both volumes have a sloping, cantilevered roof and are plastered white.
With the exception of the later added, modern canopy (not on photo) the complex looks quite original and unviolated. Because of the nearby construction of the extended Ypenburg living quarters, the future of the station is uncertain.

Garage Amstelveen.

Location: Amsterdamseweg, Amstelveen
Company: Fina
Architect: ?
Erected: end fifties

This petrol station is part of a car service station.
The heavy concrete canopy was built into the main structure of the building. The canopy looks much slimmer than it is, due to the slanted design, in white colors. The company planned to shut down the garage and demolish the canopy. I am not informed about the recent status of the object.

Vught.

Location: Den Bosch ring road, Vught.
Company: Q8
Architect: A. Meijlink
Erected: 1933
Relocated: 2008

This station is part of a larger structure.
The concrete structure is in a Bauhaus style and clearly visible. The station was about to be demolished cause of the construction of a new ring road for the city of Den Bosch. The former architect's son succeeded in the conservation of the building and finding a new function, after a relocation. The structure was in a very bad condition and will be renovated.
