Amersfoort.

old photo: Arie Jeremias van Wageningen (arch.)

recent photo: A. van Wageningen

Location: Amersfoort, Koppelweg.
Company: BP
Architect: Van Wageningen/Rooimans
Erected: 50's

Designed by Arie Jeremias van Wageningen en Arie Rooimans, former city architects of Amersfoort. Inspired by Dudok designed sites. Added was the idea of separating the service and pump areas. The decorated wall contained a small glass box for lubrification oils etc. Car service bay was located behind the wall.
The wall decoration designer created some "horse power" coming from the waves (oil rigs) as a theme relief regarding "fossil energy".
Today the building still exists, but demolition plans are there. Now all of the building is painted white, covering the fassade reliefs.

I know this station is used now as a storage shed for agricultural equipment, and in very bad condition. It is a former Caltex station near Withuis, Limburg. On the old fire department photo you see the Caltex livery in the background.
