- Situated along city entrance road, opposite forest area and historical monumental petrol station archiecture by
the Dutch architect Van Ravesteyn.
- Small terrain depth asks for a diagonal placement of pump islands in forecourt area.
Due to this placement there’s a modest canopy dimension perpendicular to the road, an explicit city officials order.
- Planning four islands on the forecourt, this turned into a larger canopy dimension parallel to the roadside. However this gave
only few problems.
- Longitudinal building visually barriers the forecourt from the military base behind. The pointed end with the circular opening
refers to the monument opposite the road.
- The 3-4 times larger dimensions as the city permitted, were only acceptable by designing a transparant canopy, not competing
with its wooded surroundings.
- The canopy construction consists of a triangular framed beam, beared by four columns. Diagonally to it a second triangular
beam, pointing from shop entrance to the monument opposite. Steel guuters with transparent platings hang below the frame.
